Biconic Fiber Optic Connectors

Biconic fiber optic connectors are a type of optical fiber connector used to terminate optical fibers.

The biconic connector features a cone-shaped ferrule with a polished end face that allows for precise fiber alignment and low insertion loss. The connector body has a screw-on mechanism for securing the connector to the equipment or patch panel.

The biconic connector design allows for a 2.5-degree tilt between the connector and the optical fiber axis. This tilt reduces the effects of back reflection and ensures a low return loss, making it an ideal connector for single-mode fibers.

Biconic connectors are available in simplex and duplex configurations, with the duplex version featuring two connectors in a single housing. The connectors are also color-coded for easy identification.

One of the main advantages of biconic connectors is their ability to maintain low insertion loss and high reliability over time, making them ideal for use in long-distance telecommunications applications. They are also easy to install and remove, and can be used in harsh environments due to their rugged design.
